Great start to new sea­son

A pleas­ing num­ber of ladies braved the heat to open their 2017 golf sea­sons.

Lynn Ed­monds top scored on Satur­day, Jan­uary 28, with 39 sta­ble­fords. Not to be out­done by her sis­ter Shel­ley James, who pro­duced a stun­ning 46 sta­ble­fords on Tues­day, Jan­uary 31.

Pop­u­lar golf­ing cou­ple Sher­ryl and Alex John­son were farewelled on Satur­day evening with a fun to­gether at the club­house.

The first round of the Sum­mer Cup (best sta­ble­fords) got un­der­way the golf­ing week of Fe­bru­ary 4-7. Best com­pe­ti­tion scores on Satur­day were Cali Go­maz 38, Brenda Hull 33 and Pauline Cole­man 32. New 18-hole re­cruit Bar­bara Hodgkin­son took the hon­ours on Tues­day from a field of 23 golfers. This gives her an early lead in the Sum­mer Cup played over a three- get round for­mat.

Best scores were Bar­bara Hodgkin­son 42, Pam Gil­lies 41, Tine Berg 40, Jo­ce­lyn Downs 40 and Bev Lamb 38.

Shel­ley James was the win­ner of the O’Del’Emz voucher as a re­ward for her birdie hole-3 (a three-for-five points).

The 9-hole ladies were off to quite a start with only four ladies brav­ing the heat to play. Best scores were achieved by So­nia Scott 22 and Joyce Stocker 20.
