Script writers have impressed judges of the Matamata Short ‘n’ Sweet Festival.

Since December, script writers of all skill level have been busy writing for the Matamata Dramatic Society’s Short ‘n’ Sweet Festival. The festival is a collection of six, 10-minute plays, written by Matamata playwrights.

Fourteen scripts were entered and the top six have been chosen. The plays will be performed in June.

Auditions will be held this month and the overall winner will be announced at the festival.

Festival organiser and Matamata Dramatic Society member Colin Kemplen says judges commented on how well prepared the scripts were, ready for the stage.

Scripts were all entered with pseudonyms. The top six plays: What Would You Do by Richard Prevett; If Youth Knew…If Age Could, by Wanda Brittain; Councilling Required by Chris Stead; Thanks A Million, by Colin Kemplen; Karms, by Chris Stead and For Want of a Charger, by Suzie Wilcox.
