Matamata Chronicle - - Your Paper, Your Place -

The environment, emissions, waste reduction and recycling come through as strong components of this week’s Chronicle. We have two opinion articles touching on those themes as people become more aware of the need to go easier on our environment and to take care of the world around us. Environmental sustainability consultant Gord Stewart writes about how the younger generation is leading the charge on action around climate change. His article looks at what New Zealand and its Government is doing to raise awareness of climate change and reduce pressure on the environment. Matamata ward councillor Adrienne Wilcock, in her article, is asking people for feedback on the Joint Waste Minimisation and Management Plan. The district is performing well when it comes to recycling but more work needs to be done. The management plan reviews a set of initiatives in this area, proposed for the 10-year plan. Have your say.
