Council loses cat fight
A remit discussing the national legislation to manage cats was presented at the Local Government New Zealand AGM.
Matamata-Piako District Council voted against the legislation, but lost with a 51 per cent vote in favour.
The remit, proposed by Dunedin City Council, asked to lobby the Government to approve the final version of the National Cat Management strategy, which recognises the importance of companion cats and indigenous wildlife.
