Me­dian prop­erty prices for the Waikato in­creased by $35,000 for June this year, com­pared to the same month a year ago.

The REINZ re­port for ac­tiv­ity in June showed Matamata-Pi­ako recorded a 20 per cent in­crease in me­dian prop­erty prices for the month, com­pared to June 2016. But over­all, prices across the Waikato, in June, fell by 2 per cent com­pared to May. The me­dian price for a prop­erty in Matamata-Pi­ako was $450,000 for June com­pared to $422,000 in May, and $375,00 for June 2016. Sales vol­umes in June com­pared to May fell by 16 per cent across the Waikato but Mata­mataPi­ako bucked the trend, record­ing a 43 per cent rise for June. South Waikato also recorded an in­crease, 27 per cent, while the rest of the re­gion fell. Com­pared to June 2016, sales across the re­gion fell 21 per cent. The num­ber of days to sell a prop­erty across the Waikato im­proved by five days com­pared to May, from 41 days in May to 36 days in June. The num­ber of days eased by five com­pared to June 2016. Over the past 10 years the av­er­age num­ber of days to sell dur­ing June for Waikato has been 51 days.
