REINZ REPORT FOR JUNE
Median property prices for the Waikato increased by $35,000 for June this year, compared to the same month a year ago.
The REINZ report for activity in June showed Matamata-Piako recorded a 20 per cent increase in median property prices for the month, compared to June 2016. But overall, prices across the Waikato, in June, fell by 2 per cent compared to May. The median price for a property in Matamata-Piako was $450,000 for June compared to $422,000 in May, and $375,00 for June 2016. Sales volumes in June compared to May fell by 16 per cent across the Waikato but MatamataPiako bucked the trend, recording a 43 per cent rise for June. South Waikato also recorded an increase, 27 per cent, while the rest of the region fell. Compared to June 2016, sales across the region fell 21 per cent. The number of days to sell a property across the Waikato improved by five days compared to May, from 41 days in May to 36 days in June. The number of days eased by five compared to June 2016. Over the past 10 years the average number of days to sell during June for Waikato has been 51 days.
