People are making their last minute calculations and decisions on who to vote for at this year’s general election. With just a few days left until polling day, it’s important to be armed with as much information on the candidates and their party policies as possible so you can make an informed decision. The candidates we spoke to for the Waikato, Hauraki-Waikato electorates, tell us it’s been a challenging but rewarding campaign trail. In the Waikato electorate, Lindsay Tisch is stepping down and voters there will elect a new face to represent them. Tim van de Molen is National’s candidate with Labour putting up lawyer Brooke Loader, Tamahere woman and former editor Philippa Stevenson is campaigning for the Green Party and regional councillor Stu Husband for New Zealand First. In the Maori seat of HaurakiWaikato, Labour Party’s incumbent MPNanaia Mahuta looks strong but what impact will Kingi Tuhetia’s support for Maori Party candidate Rahui Papa have on voters’ final decision?
