Har­lequins se­cure vi­tal win

The Waikato Har­lequins U17s se­cured a close win, 27-29, over Thames Val­ley U18s in Paeroa on Satur­day.

Mata­mata Col­lege’s Caine Ho­hepa and Joel Waru fea­tured for the Har­lequins and their team re­mains un­beaten in the com­pe­ti­tion.

The team plays its fi­nal game against North­land Vikings U18s at St Paul’s in Hamil­ton on Septem­ber 23.

It has al­ready notched up wins against King Coun­try U18s and Taranaki U18s.

In other rugby results from around Waikato and Thames Val­ley, in the North­ern Re­gion Un­der 85kg com­pe­ti­tion, Thames Val­ley de­feated Waikato 32-0 at Marist Park, Hamil- ton. Waikato U16s de­feated Thames val­ley U16s, 57-7, at Cen­ten­nial Park, Paeroa.

There was also an In­vi­ta­tional Un­der 45kg tour­na­ment played on Sun­day at Boyd Park in Te Aroha.

In the first game, Hamil­ton Gold de­feated Thames Val­ley 31-26 and in the sec­ond match, it was Thames Val­ley over King Coun­try 24-10.
