Hunter sets the standard
Hunter has quickly established itself as the “go-to” brand for tyre changers and wheel balancers in NZ since the release of its latest high performance models.
Take the Revolution, for example, the world’s first truly fully automatic tyre changer that still has a waiting list of buyers around the world, more than two years after it was introduced.
Its fully automatic processes allow technicians to change tyres effortlessly, in exactly the same way, taking exactly the same amount of time, every time. And it will continue to operate in an identical manner, regardless of whether the tyre is standard, large, low profile or even a run-flat.
Even loading the wheel/tyre is made much easier, thanks to the built-in lifter that takes all the effort from this operation, which saves operators from straining their backs, and then disappears out of the way.
Once the wheel is on the plate, the leverless tool head breaks the bead and demounts the tyre without any damage to the rim or the rubber. All the technician is required to do is press down on the Go pedal at floor level and hold it, to allow the programme to sequence automatically.
The whole operation – demounting an old tyre and replacing with a new one – takes a little more than two minutes, making it one of the fastest tyre changers on the market. It helps that the Revolution also has an extraordinarily fast inflation system that automatically fills the tyre to the desired pressure – Hunter says it’s 33 percent faster than traditional foot pedal inflation systems.
The Revolution heads a growing range of Hunter tyre changers and wheel balancers from New Zealand distributor, Stocks Equipment.
Three other models of tyre changer are also available, with the TCX56 and TXC57 recently arriving to replace the TCX565 and TCX575 models and featuring a patented bead press system to improve mounting and demounting. The TCX525 Automatic Tilt-Column tyre changer continues within the range. These TCX models are made for Hunter in collaboration with the number one manufacturer of Italian-made tyre changers but are strengthened and modified to Hunter Engineering’s strict standards and come with a full three-year warranty. All Hunter tyre changers are designed to eliminate damage to expensive alloy wheel rims.
For checking the balance of wheels, Hunter’s Road Force Touch model takes wheel balancing to a whole new level, both in terms of diagnosis and accuracy.
The Road Force Touch (RFT) produces exceptional balancing results and performs a Road Force diagnostic test faster than a traditional wheel balancer performs a typical balance. During the balancing process, the Road Force Touch automatically applies Hunter’s patented load roller against the wheel and tyre assembly to simulate how a wheel performs under the weight of a vehicle on the road to find hidden causes of vibration and vehicle pull. Hunter’s patented Straightrak programme identifies tyres pulling to one side and rectifies this by optimal wheel placement, just like original equipment manufacturers. Stocks Equipment also offers the popular Hunter GSP9200 wheel balancer, which comes with patented SmartWeight technology to improve balance and the patented Centering Check that ensures proper centering and eliminates set-up errors. Hunter is still the world leader in wheel alignment technology, too, with a range of models to suit the needs of workshops in New Zealand, including an enhanced version of the incredibly fast and accurate Hawkeye Elite, which can achieve a full alignment check in less than a minute. To complement the wheel alignment range, Stocks Equipment also has four-post hoists that enable a onestop shop installation, plus a wide array of quality two-post hoists and scissors lifts.
