OEX game changers

OEX is paving the way for the automotive industry with the introduction of three innovative products set to change the way automotive specialists repair selected Toyota vehicles.

These products include the DXA433U and DXA4041 alternators to suit Land Cruisers, and the DXS575 starter motor to suit Prado, Hiace and Hilux. Phil Hughes, general manager of AshdownIngram New Zealand, says they are truly changing the game.

The change came about when common problems were being identified to OEX through feedback from auto electricians. “The innovative change means one part can be used for multiple vehicles, reducing costly workshop errors and simplifying repairs,” he said.

DXA433U and DXA4041’s patented design for LandCruiser alternators offers a quick and easy solution to switching the regulator type within the alternator.

Toyota Land Cruiser 79, 80 and 100 Series traditionally required one of two identical looking alternators, both with different regulator functions. These alternators were easily confused, resulting in incorrect units being installed in vehicles, which resulted in vehicle electrical faults.

In the past, if the wrong alternator was purchased and a fault was showing, an additional regulator was required. This was not only an added expense, but caused significant delays sourcing regulators and extra hours of labor to remove, fit the new regulator and refit the alternator.

Both alternators were developed to overcome this challenge for diesel and petrol LandCruiser applications. Now with the simple removal of a screw, the alternator can change from the default setting of active to an inactive warning light function.

The DXS575 starter motor will also save hours in the workshop with the use of a new and unique switch terminal. Despite the Prado, Hilux and Hiace using the same starter motor, the switch terminal differs between them. The DXS575 gives the option of installing the single unit for either vehicle without the need of unreliable adaptors.

These new OEX innovations means one unit can be used for multiple applications, making ordering and stock management easier for workshop owners.

Hughes says these new innovations are proof that OEX is working with, and for, their customers. “We are incredibly proud of the effort and time we have put into the creation of the DXA433U, DXA4041 and DXS575 and we truly believe they will change the industry and save time and money for workshops and customers alike.”
