Grooms

My Wedding - - CONTENTS - By Gayle Dickson

Wedding magazines, blogs and websites tend to focus heavily on the bride. The poor groom and bestmen are often left to their own devices. No longer! Over the next few issues, we’ll slowly but surely be growing our focus on the males, bringing you information on grooming, styling, fashion, vehicles .. .and more!

To start you off, we thought we’d introduce you to the team at Dorset Tailoring & Suit Hire.

As the name suggest, not only can you hire fabulous suits, shirts, ties and waistcoats from them, but you can also have a suit tailor made to perfection … at a fraction of the cost I’ve seen elsewhere.

Now, I can hear you asking: “Doesn’t cheap mean nasty and won’t I end up with poor quality?" The answer to that is a definite “No”! Dorsets have been manufacturing quality suits for over 30 years and, judging by the number of repeat customers I’ve seen coming and going, they’re obviously doing something right!

All their suits are made locally in NZ … in fact, in Hamilton, where they have a monster showroom. Since they own both the showroom and factory, they’re not paying exorbitant rentals and charging more for their suits. They also keep costs down by direct-sourcing their fabrics, again passing those savings on to you.

When it comes to the fabric, Dorsets will always go for a superior quality wool. You can literally feel the difference by just running your hands over the suits!

One thing that strikes me each time I venture into their Botany store is the variety. Whether you’re after something extremely formal like a morning suit, or a little more casual like a business style suit; whether you prefer pinstripes to solid charcoal; no matter if you like pale grey as opposed to black … it’s all there. There are a range of jacket styles, lapel options, colours and lengths. Plus, you can accessorise with ties, handkerchiefs and cufflinks on site, saving you numerous trips! In fact, you can even grab your dress shoes from Dorsets if you don’t want to splash out on purchasing a new pair just for one day!

Weddings are a Dorset speciality, and they take pride in ensuring that each and every member of your bridal party is correctly fitted. It doesn’t matter that one guy is a monster size rugby player with a size 30 neck, and the other is Joe Average … they’ll both look impeccably tailored by the time Dorsets have finished with them. And don’t worry about trying to match waistcoats and ties to the bridesmaid dresses or another aspect of the wedding – leave that to the professionals.

Let’s be honest – where else can you hire a suit, waistcoat, shirt and tie for under $200 and be guaranteed that it will fit like a glove?
