Now that Lewis Stanton is becoming the most talked about Nelsonian of the modern age, perhaps we should get creative and consider ways to cash in on his growing fame?
Maybe a new tourist attraction? The council could commission an expensive art work – maybe a rusty horse and cart design suspended from wires over hanging the Cathedral steps?
A stage in front of the steps could be constructed for Mr Stanton to present his freelance political ideology to passers by? Nelson’s version of a ‘‘pop-up globe theatre’’.
At night, freedom campers could be invited to attend re-runs of Mr Ed projected onto the rusty art work above. We could even invite freedom campers along for a barbecued sausage with free wi-fi to get them hooked?
Maybe add a few more wires to hang their washing on during the day? A unique Kiwi experience for tourists to enjoy.
I’m sure the council has a team of expert consultants ready and waiting to consider this proposal but hey, it’s got to be a winner surely?
