New dam web­site

The likely joint-ven­ture en­tity to over­see and man­age the devel­op­ment, con­struc­tion and op­er­a­tion of the pro­posed Waimea dam has launched a web­site about the $82.5 mil­lion project ear­marked for the Lee Val­ley. Called Waimea Wa­ter, the en­tity in­volves dam pro­po­nent Waimea Ir­ri­ga­tors Ltd and Tas­man District Coun­cil. Its new waimeawa­ web­site in­cludes in­for­ma­tion on the his­tory of the dam project, the pro­posed dam struc­ture, al­ter­na­tives, the pro­posed time­line and how it could be funded. There are also links to doc­u­ments about the project and se­lected news ar­ti­cles as well as some press re­leases and fre­quently asked ques­tions. gath­er­ing at An­nes­brook Church from 11am to­day. Shaw is the fourth of four party lead­ers in­vited to ad­dress the Nel­son Grey Power-or­gan­ised pub­lic meet­ings in the run up to the gen­eral elec­tions next Satur­day. He fol­lows the lead­ers of the Na­tional, Labour and New Zealand First po­lit­i­cal par­ties who have all spo­ken in Nel­son.
