Modellers pond

Nelson Mail - - COMMENT&OPINION -

If the pond could get a decent amount of seawater, the slimy weed would eventually die, and the pond would be back to how it was years ago

My proposal is to run a 300mm polythene pipe from the blind channel direct to the modellers pond. Costs of the pipe would be considerably less than the $1.2 million estimated. With cost overruns that figure will end up closer to $2m.

A substantial pump would be required, this could be housed in a tilt panel small building close to The Modellers Club rooms, for power supply.

The council may have to re locate the Centennial Rd , storm water outlet, there is plenty of room on the mudflat.

The modellers pond in Tahunanui needs a fix. The question is, what would that be and at what cost to the Nelson City Council and ratepayers?
