Factory farming

-

Jim Anderton has received a lot of accolades on his death, and been called compassionate. But my memory of him was when I wrote to him when he was Minister of Agriculture, concerning the plight of factory farmed animals kept inhumanely in tiny cages.

He was the minister responsible for this.

He wouldn’t do anything to change the laws and help them, and he didn’t give a stuff about their suffering. So I wasn’t impressed by him. Battery farmed hens are kept in battery cages with lots of hens crammed into one cage and it is disgusting that a country that thinks of itself as being civilized allows this.
