What’s on in Nelson
❚ Abstract painter and jazz violinist Richard Adams will be displaying a series of new works at Red Gallery, Bridge St, Nelson alongside a selection of ceramics by Mandy Gargiulo until November 15.
❚ Caroline Bellamy: Wild & Light exhibition is at the Parker Gallery, Achilles Ave, Nelson from November 20 to December 11.
❚ The Nelson Symphony Orchestra’s final concert for 2018, Romance Mystery, will take place at the Nelson Centre of Musical Arts auditorium on November 24 at 7.30pm.
❚ Brent Forbes’ exhibition Coastal is opening at Red Gallery on November 16, 5.30pm to 7pm, and will run until December 7.
❚ Mark Baskett’s exhibition On that land where we stand is at the Refinery Artspace, Halifax St, Nelson until November 17.
❚ A retrospective exhibition examining the life and work of painter Helen Flora Victoria Scales (1887-1985) is opening at the Suter Art Gallery, Bridge St, Nelson on November 16 at 5.30pm, and will run until January 27.
❚ Local artists David Carson and Jim Mackay are displaying their exhibition Low Hanging Fruit at the Refinery Artspace until December 8.
❚ Emma Moncrieff is showing art and sculptures in her Dress Series 1 exhibition at Nelson City Framers, Halifax St, Nelson until December 3.
❚ Nelson’s elite Chroma Chamber Choir is presenting a programme of Renaissance and Baroque choral music to celebrate the Advent season. Bach’s Magnificat will be performed at the NCMA auditorium on November 18 at 2pm. Tickets $27 plus booking fee from NCMA or Ticketdirect.co.nz.
❚ Quiet Dog Gallery, Wakatu Lane, Nelson is exhibiting Rosie Little’s solo exhibition Heading West: Golden Bay Landscapes until tomorrow.
❚ The EARTH-ED exhibition by Francie Heathfield and Dorothy Meharry is at the Suter’s McKee Gallery until Sunday.
❚ The Fragility exhibition, featuring paintings by Jane Sussmilch, Lyn Cain, Lee-Ann Dixon, Lyn Price and Deb Whitlock Hunter, is at the Suter’s McKee Gallery from November 12 to December 2.
❚ Los Galanes, a group of musicians playing Latin and French rhythms, will be entertaining at The Boathouse, Nelson tonight at 8pm. Fancy dress as Zorro, Don Diego de La Vega or Esperanza is encouraged. Entry $10.
