‘Out­stand­ing’ King Salmon wins top ex­port award

Nel­son-based com­pany New Zea­land King Salmon has been named among the coun­try’s lead­ing ex­port com­pa­nies at this week’s New Zea­land In­ter­na­tional Busi­ness Awards. King Salmon was pre­sented with the In­spir­ing Pref­er­ence for NZ award at Thurs­day’s black­tie din­ner in Auck­land. Judge Re­becca Smith said the com­pany won the cat­e­gory for its com­mit­ment to shar­ing its story right through the sup­ply chain, from its own team to re­tail­ers and dis­trib­u­tors and right through to con­sumers. ‘‘That com­mit­ment, that con­sis­tency was sim­ply out­stand­ing.’’ The com­pany has be­gun tak­ing its Re­gal Salmon and O¯ ra King brands to the world, with the lat­ter – its premium prod­uct – fea­tured on the menus of more than 1000 top restau­rants world­wide. Run by New Zea­land Trade and En­ter­prise, the awards cel­e­brate ex­cel­lence and in­no­va­tive prac­tice of New Zea­land busi­nesses on the world stage.
