Nelson Mail - - News - Tim O’Connell and Tim Newman

A man in his 50s is in hospital in a serious condition after a stabbing in the Nelson suburb of Tahunanui.

The incident took place around 3.10pm yesterday.

St John communications manager Gerard Campbell said a man was taken to Nelson Hospital in a serious condition.

Police later arrested a 28-year-old man at the Medical and Injury Centre on Waimea Rd. He was receiving treatment for an injury.

It is believed that the parties involved were known to each other. No-one else was being sought in relation to the incident.

Four police cars and an ambulance went to a Green St address.

A neighbour said he had just arrived home from work when multiple police cars and ambulances descended on the street.

He said he did not know the people at the address.

Another neighbour at the scene said the property was recently very overgrown.

The house was well-known for people coming and going at late hours of the evening, he said.

A man is removed from a Tahunanui address after the incident yesterday.
