READERS’ WRITES

First off — let me say that it’s a real shame about Penn Mckay, he most certainly will be missed.

However, my reason for writing in was to see if the magazine had ever printed any features about the early Mitsubishi GTO coupés, I haven’t seen one done for a long time and they are fast becoming hard to find in good condition now, and rare as parts carts cars as well.

Attached are a few photos of our own 1973 Mitsubishi GTO GS2000, a car we have owned since 1987. The car was featured in an advert for the new Mitsubishi Galant VR4 Liftback back in 1989 with Gordon Jackson (of TV’S The Professionals and Upstairs Downstairs) on the Waiouru military airfield. We were with them for a complete week.

It seems that most of these interesting Japanese coupés have rusted off the roads — either that or they’ve been reworked à la Performance Car. Just as an aside, I don’t think the advert Ken mentions received much air time, as Gordon Jackson passed away a few months or so after the completion of filming. AGW
