One Lady Owner
South Island specialist classic car restorer, Marlborough Classic & Custom Restorations in Blenheim, is currently restoring this 1938 Morris 8.
The owner, a careful lady now in her early 60s, was originally given the car by her grandfather when she was 15. She learned to drive in the Morris, and it became her daily driver for the next two years or so before she headed off for the big Kiwi OE. Between marriage and children — and with the help of her grandfather and father — the car was stored for a total of four years before ending up with Marlborough Classic & Custom Restorations. For the last two years Les Beaumont and his team have been working away on it, bringing it back to its former glory. The owner also specified a bigger motor, so not to be too slow on the road and hold up traffic. Accordingly, an overhead valve Morris Minor 1000 engine plus matching gearbox has been fitted.
