Racing Zephyr MKII

New Zealand Classic Car - - READERS WRITES -

Idon’t know if any of your readers can help, but I was just wondering if anyone out there knows anything about Noel’s MKII. It was a circuit car, originally raced in dark blue. About 1968 Owen Neams bought the car and my father, Ian Bourke, drove it in hill climbs at Hunters Road and Chamberlain Road, Bombay, against drivers such as Doug Bremner and Tony Vesey. By this time the Zephyr was painted yellow and black.

I am a regular buyer of your magazine and have read many articles on famous MKIIS, but not this one. It was a beast fitted with triple carbs. I was only eight years old at the time, so I would love to know if anybody has any photos of the car or can provide any further information.

Wayne Bourke, via email [If anyone can help Wayne, contact NZ Classic Car and we’ll forward the details. AGW]
