Galaxy of Cars

New Zealand Classic Car - - NATIONWIDE NEWS - Words and Photos Allan Walton

It’s been a while since I attended Galaxy of Cars, now being held at Western Springs stadium rather than MOTAT. Organized by the New Lynn Lions, the show is always popular although, as Auckland’s long dry spell decided to break the day of the show, a drizzly morning resulted in a lower than expected gate entry and a few gaps in the display area. However, there was still a good turnout of show cars and spectators, with everyone enjoying the day — especially when the weather improved after midday.

Accompanied by chief organizer, Noel Mountjoy of the New Lynn Lions, we spent a pleasant hour or so wandering around the stadium grounds, greeting a few friends and checking out an extremely varied collection of classic cars.

The charity benefitting from this year’s Galaxy of Cars was The Child Mobility Foundation, and although the donation will be limited, the New Lynn Lions believe it will be enough to fund at least one Hart Walker frame.
