The Auckland Consul Zephyr Zodiac Car Club Inc (ACZZCC) was formed in 1982, with founding members advertising for interested people to join the club, which was formally incorporated on February 21, 1984. The club thus celebrated its 30th birthday last year

One of the key objectives was to promote (and improve) the image of ‘Z’ cars, which by that time had fallen from grace and were considered by many to be a something of a hoon’s car. Today that objective has been well and truly achieved, and the club now has approximately 75 members from all walks of life, stretching from the top of the North Island to South Auckland. The cars owned by club members cover most of the models produced under the Consul/zephyr/zodiac umbrella — and range from concours cars to everyday drivers. As long as the vehicles are being enjoyed, the club welcomes cars of all condition.

ACZZCC has had cars feature on the front page of the NZ Classiccar magazine in recent years, and showcased at the Ellerslie Intermarque Concours and Nzclassiccar Show. High-profile examples included a MKI convertible, Zodiac MKII and a Zodiac MKIII.

Club activities include monthly runs to points of interest catering for the enthusiast and partners alike — there’s nothing like a convoy of classic Fords.

Members are also eligible to attend the annual conventions held in New Zealand, and ACZZCC hosted the International convention in 2013 — an event that included participants from New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom.

To help keep their cars on the road the club established a parts depot some four years ago, which now boasts a good selection of parts. These are sourced from around the North Island and are obtained by stripping cars, obtaining NOS from suppliers, or through general networking. Monthly working bees are held, and are also a great opportunity to learn about the cars, as well as providing lot of entertainment for those involved.

A club magazine is published monthly to keep everyone informed, and with a wealth of knowledge and experience within the club, members are always happy to share this in order to ensure that the cars remain on the road for as long as possible.
