New Zealand Classic Car - - Readers' Writes Letters -

en­joyed the ar­ti­cle in this month’s edi­tion (Mo­tor Man, NZ Clas­sic Car, July 2015) fea­tur­ing the Tri­umph 2000–2500 se­ries cars.

At­tached is a pic­ture scanned from my photo al­bum of a Tri­umph 2500 TC — one of two used here in Auck­land in 1977, as ‘ in­con­spic­u­ous’ pa­trol cars, by the Min­istry of Trans­port.

The of­fi­cer in the pic­ture is me — when I was 38 years younger!

Those 2.5s had a lot of grunt for their time, and I re­call that ours went through a few rear-sus­pen­sion-link bush­ings due to be­ing thrashed at times. The cars were fit­ted with twin flash­ing red lamps be­hind the front grille.
