Sunbeam Lake Ferry Excursion
This year marks the 36th anniversary of the annual Lake Ferry Excursion, organized by the Sunbeam Car Club of NZ ( Wellington), and 2015’s event will take place on December 12.
As always, the event starts with entrants meeting up at the Fell Locomotive Museum in Featherston at 11am for an 11.30 departure to Lake Ferry, where participants can meet to talk over a picnic lunch or stroll across to the Lake Ferry Hotel for a pub meal. The drivers’ briefing takes place at 11.20am by the big oak tree outside the museum.
As well as classic Sunbeams, organizers welcome all other carclub members along on the day and, indeed, also welcome people who don’t belong to a car club — the day is all about driving classic cars and meeting and talking to fellow enthusiasts; it isn’t about belonging to a club.
In the past, the event has been attended by English, American, Italian, and French cars, while clubs represented have included the Constructors Car Club, Corvette Club, Capri Car Club, Mustang Club, and Early American Car Club, as well as many other smaller clubs.
