Spitfires at Le Mans
Given Porsche’s recent success at Le Mans, and the historical prestige in terms of brand success at the race, you’d be forgiven for thinking Circuit de la Sarthe is the exclusive stomping ground of upper-class marques. That would not be quite correct, however, as Triumph — of all manufacturers — has also enjoyed a period of Le Mans success in the’60s, thanks to their high-performance works Spitfires. Mike Lowe’s new Targa Abarth
If you have followed the Targa events in any capacity, you’ll likely be familiar with the name ‘Mike Lowe’ — famous for consecutively campaigning his little Fiat 500 Abarth for the last 20 years. For 2015, though, ‘Barty’ — as the 1964 Abarth was fondly nicknamed — has been retired, and Mike has begun to race ‘Barty 2’, a latemodel Abarth Assetto Corse works race car.
