Speedster Update

New Zealand Classic Car - - Reader's Writes -

Iwrote recently about the somewhat strange designation of our replica Porsche Speedster (Readers’ Writes, November 2015) as being either a oneowner vehicle first registered in 1997 or a nine-owner vehicle first registered in 1968 (based upon the original number of the old VW chassis that was part-used in its construction).

Before I continue, I should add that the original description of my car as a 1997 Porsche 356 Speedster came about at the final scrutineering and original registration at a local testing station.

The operator there searched unsuccessfully through the computer system for a suitable designation and, failing to find one that he was happy with, settled on the above-mentioned description.
