NZFMR Porsche Festival
As most readers will be aware, Porsches — and their Kiwi drivers — have enjoyed a great 2015 racing season, including victories at Le Mans and many other circuits before winning the World Endurance Championship (WEC) Manufacturer’s Championship. To celebrate these successes, the Porsche team’s two Kiwi drivers will attend the NZ Festival of Motor Racing Porsche Festival to be held over two weekends in January. Earl Bamber, joint winner of the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans, will be joined by Brendon Hartley — who has won the FIA WEC Drivers’ World Championship along with teammates Mark Webber and Timo Bernhard.
As well as the factory drivers, Porsche will also bring two very special cars from the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart: a 1977 Porsche 935 and the 1998 World Sportscar Championship (WSC) LMP1 Prototype. Both will appear first at the NZFMR in January, where Brendon and Earl will drive them for exhibition laps. Following that, the cars will be on display at other events and locations this summer.
