Surgical procedure

This stunning two-owner 1969 Morgan 4/4 is having a much needed birthday, thanks to its New Zealand owner of many years.

The skilled team at The Surgery in Wellington has disassembled all removable panels and acid-dip stripped them back to bare steel.

The fixed panels of the rear body and scuttle were hand stripped to bare steel while still in place — these panels are actually nailed to the wooden body framework. The panels were then hand scrubbed with metal prep (Deoxidine) then coated with epoxy urethane two-pack etch primer.

The team at The Surgery has also hand fabricated new alloy panels for the rear and attended to a couple of areas of wood rot that had eaten its way into the original Belgian ash timber frame.

The Morgan is making good progress and is steadily heading towards preparation for paint work.
