Easter Southern Connection
Words and photos:
good selection of South Island Zephyr and Zodiacs gathered in Nelson over Easter to enjoy the vast array of attractions the province has to offer. Seventy cars made the most of the last of the great summer weather, the convertibles benefiting the most by having their tops down for much of the weekend.
The activities kicked off on Saturday with a display at the Speights Ale House, before a free afternoon allowed participants the opportunity to relax and enjoy some of Nelson’s best-kept secrets.
Sunday saw the cars take to the back roads through the Upper Moutere Valley, before arriving at Parklands School in Motueka for lunch. After a look through the local market many of the cars continued on to Kaiteriteri Beach, while others headed to Mapua to grab all the bargains they could find at its Easter Market Day. The convention ended on Monday, with everyone heading home keen to meet up again somewhere different next Easter.
of choice was Foster Hope, an organization that provides care kits for children entering foster care.
Once again, I was asked to participate in judging, and, after a pleasant wander around the show, we were able to finally select the day’s winners.
This year’s Galaxy of Cars was a well-organized and -supported event, and we look forward to attending again next year.
