Si­mon Tip­pins opened his own shop, Cre­ative Metal Works in Pukekohe, nearly 10 years ago af­ter gain­ing ex­pe­ri­ence work­ing in the US and the UK restor­ing his­toric race cars and clas­sic cars. Si­mon is a mas­ter coach­builder, tak­ing on be­spoke projects for his clients from right around the coun­try and Aus­tralia, all com­ing to him via word of mouth.

Si­mon has re­cently com­pleted projects as di­verse as an orig­i­nal Co­bra chas­sis RHD con­ver­sion, hand­made vents for a Bu­gatti, and rust re­pairs on a 1939 Mer­cury con­vert­ible. He is proud of ev­ery piece of work that comes out of the shop, and per­son­ally over­sees ev­ery as­pect of each job.

Cre­ative Metal Works cur­rently has some im­pres­sive cars in the shop, in­clud­ing a 1953 Cadillac, a Sun­beam Tiger, and the only 1965 Porsche 911 in the coun­try.
