fter learning their craft working at the renowned Gulf Motor Bodies, Ted Irwin and his brother set off together to found Henderson Vintage Car Restoration in 1987. These days, it’s Ted alone who runs the business, specializing in all forms of vintage and veteran bodywork and restoration.
It’s not just metal that Ted is a master craftsman with, though, as he learned the rare art of wooden coachbuilding and is able to apply those skills to full builds or minor touch-ups. With that woodworking skill has come the reputation of being the go-to guy for wooden dashboard rebuilds, be those in mahogany or other woods.
On the metalwork side of things, Ted’s well versed in not just working with panel steel but also light fabrication, such as rebuilding, repairing, or replacing chassis rails and the like. While he specializes in the body side of vehicle restoration, he does have related businesses with which he can collaborate on full restorations when required.
