fter learn­ing their craft work­ing at the renowned Gulf Mo­tor Bod­ies, Ted Ir­win and his brother set off to­gether to found Hen­der­son Vin­tage Car Restora­tion in 1987. These days, it’s Ted alone who runs the business, spe­cial­iz­ing in all forms of vin­tage and vet­eran body­work and restora­tion.

It’s not just metal that Ted is a mas­ter crafts­man with, though, as he learned the rare art of wooden coachbuilding and is able to ap­ply those skills to full builds or mi­nor touch-ups. With that wood­work­ing skill has come the rep­u­ta­tion of be­ing the go-to guy for wooden dash­board re­builds, be those in ma­hogany or other woods.

On the met­al­work side of things, Ted’s well versed in not just work­ing with panel steel but also light fab­ri­ca­tion, such as re­build­ing, re­pair­ing, or re­plac­ing chas­sis rails and the like. While he spe­cial­izes in the body side of ve­hi­cle restora­tion, he does have re­lated busi­nesses with which he can col­lab­o­rate on full restora­tions when re­quired.
