With six stores throughout Auckland and the Waikato region, Coolcar Air-conditioning is New Zealand’s premium air conditioning specialist.

The Land Cruiser 70 Series is a favourite here at the office, and why not? Looks reminiscent of the FJ55/45/60 Cruisers and proven toughness and reliability are hallmarks of the beast.

It should come as no surprise, then, that the US Government has apparently green-lit an order for around 500 of the 70 Series utes to be built and fitted out by defence contractor, Battelle, at a cost of US$170 million. The Hilux and Ford Ranger are rumoured to be in the mix as well.

What’s surprising is the fact that the US military hasn’t sided with a domestic manufacturer. Given the longstanding relationship with GM and other wares available from Ford (F150 war truck anyone?).
