MTA100 — Car Show of The Century
The Motor Trade Association (MTA) is hosting a celebration of a century of motoring on Wellington’s waterfront, April 28– 30, 2017. Get ready for everything from early crank-handle models to the autonomous cars now emerging onto the market. Highlights will include the Shed 6 highlights reel of a handful of New Zealand’s best motoring moments — featuring the likes of New Zealand’s first vehicle, the 1895 Benz, the Trekka, Chris Amon’s Maserati, and Burt Monroe’s Indian motorcycle. For The Love of Cars exhibition, the carpark under the TSB Bank Arena will become home to a carefully curated collection of privately owned vehicles that range from high-performance to muscle, vintage, classic, and those cars that hold a special place in our hearts and our history. Among the many guest speakers, you’ll find Todd Niall, a journalist who wrote the book on the New Zealand– made Trekka and has a deep passion for this Kiwi classic — he is also something of an expert on the Fiat 500, which was assembled and sold in New Zealand in the 1980s.
