The news has broken that Volvo says every Volvo launched from 2019 onwards will now have an electric motor. It marks the historic end of cars powered only by an internal-combustion engine, with electrification the core of the automaker’s future business. While other solely electric companies have pioneered the technology for some time now, Volvo’s announcement could be one of the most significant moves by any automaker. A century after the invention of the internalcombustion engine, electrification is paving the way for a new chapter in automotive history.
