Kuromon Ichiba is a lively covered market that stretches for 580m in Osaka, Japan. Nicknamed ‘Osaka’s kitchen’ because everyone from local homeowners to gourmet chefs purchase their produce there, the market has become famous for its fresh seafood, and, recently, it’s also become a popular tourist location. The crowded market is rich with colour, bustle, and noise — and that’s exactly what Daehong sought to photograph on this day. “There were so many interesting activities happening everywhere, and I was busy capturing them,” Daehong said. “All of sudden, I saw a man with a fishing net catching blowfish out of the big fish tank. His face was covered with screens, but it was clear to see what he was doing. I found this whole scene quite interesting as it is, and I was lucky enough to capture this image among the busy crowds.”
