A reel for Kiwis

New Zealand Fishing World - - (Techique) -

Accurate agents Decoro has been representing the brand here in New Zealand for around nine years and in that time the brand has slowly taken on a true Kiwi flavour, mostly due to the design work of Kane Tapper, Decoro’s owner.

The early series Accurates were robust, if a little agricultural for some Kiwis, and later series saw a steady progression of refinements to set the mould for what is now a dedicated hardcore jigging reel.

The new DFS Slammer comes in a stealthy anodised matt black with a contrasting red spool offering attractive aesthetics. Offered in three sizes and standard ratios of 400XN in 6.1:1, 500XN in 6.1:1 and 600N in 4.1:1. A good drag is a must on any reel and Accurate have one of the best in the business. Smooth, easy to set and very powerful. Many jiggers get obsessed with max drag pressures a reel will produce rather than a drag that has a full range of uses. These reels will stop anything that swims in our water and the twin sealed drag plates make for an enjoyable day’s jigging without water intrusion. We were landing fish in the 12-18kg class which felt twice that size given their fighting spirit and on the DFS Slammer 400XN, loaded with PE3 line, we had a ball.
