& lanky muscular
Those that meet me now assume I have always been a well-built muscular guy – well that couldn’t be further from the truth. I have in fact been on both ends of the physique spectrum, tall, skinny lanky teenager, to leaving high school and not knowing a thing about nutrition and going from 75kg to 108kg in two years with absolutely no muscle.
I knew a change was needed as I had lost all self-confidence in my appearance. After living abroad for nine years I moved back to New Zealand and lived with my sister Roseanne, who was a big fitness advocate and who herself had gone through a radical postnatal transformation. Her story was published weekly in a local newspaper and the amount of people she was able to reach out to and encourage and motivate was amazing – including me. She told me if she could do it then so could I. So it began with my first gym membership at Les Mills in Hamilton where she was shoulder pressing more then me. I had all the motivation I needed right there, haha.
With consistency and hard work I began to see changes, I lost weight, became more confident and developed pride in myself again.
