The Movember Foundation
has become well known for encouraging men to grow a moustache during the month of November to highlight and help fundraise for Men's health issues. The foundation works on a global scale to fund research and programmes that will change the way men are treated and supported.
They have now partnered with NZ Golf Inc. to run a series of golf tournaments around the country: the Mo-Masters. Playing golf has both physical and mental health benefits so it made sense to the create a series that combined fundraising, health benefits and fun.
The first tournament was held at Akarana Golf Club towards the end of September with other tournaments being held around the country through to March 2018. The tournament format is an 18 hole ambrose in teams of 3 with a focus on fun and fast play. The winning team from each tournament, along with their club professional, PGA representative or top club player then receive an invitation to the finals weekend to find the Mo Masters champion team.
Kiwi professional Mark Brown is an ambassador for the series and will be found at as many of the tournaments as he can fit into his tournament schedule, along with other Kiwi golf professionals.
