01-05: THE DRILL

New Zealand Golf Magazine - - PGA OF NZ -

This drill requires different stages. Understand what your trying to achieve. A shallow strike.

Understand that you don't have to hit a ball to start with, it's more about a feeling that you start with

The key to this drill is to keep your upper trail arm connected to your rib cage.

Place your lead arm and across your trail arm. As shown in picture one.

Swing the club as you would a chip shot. This onearmed swing starts to give you this shallow skimming like action that creates the shot I am talking about.

Your wrist strength will be tested and your control but this is great practice and you will find that continuation of this drill over practice swing and sessions will make a difference.

As you advance in skill you can start to hit some shots.

I use this drill a lot and think it's a great part of your chipping practice!
