NGAMOTU, NEW PLYMOUTH GOLF CLUB

This classic par-72 course has played host to four New Zealand Open championships and plenty of national and provincial amateur events. Both nines sweep out from the clubhouse in two giant loops, which means no matter which way the wind is blowing, you'll be challenged at some point during your round. Bring your best putting game - many of the greens are large and contoured. Don't be distracted by the spectacular backdrop of Mt Taranaki as you tee off on hole six, one of the best. A water hazard short and bunkers left and right closely guard the green, so you'll be wanting to make that tee shot an accurate one. The name, Ngamotu, is Maori for “The Islands", and refers to the islands which lie just off the coast and are in full view when playing the holes at the seaward end of the course. 24 Golf Course Lane, Bell Block, New Plymouth.
