WHAT DOES GOOD IMPACT LOOK LIKE, FEEL LIKE AND SOUND LIKE?
The impact position has been described as a golf swings ‘moment of truth'.
Susan Farron shows how a good impact position results in a better shot.
A good impact position is
important to help you get good connection with the ball resulting in a better shot.
I use the impact bag drill as a slow movement exercise to get the sensation of what good impact is.
Place the bag opposite your lead foot (left for me)
Start from your address position and make a swing back and down to impact with the bag.
→ 01-03: Work on striking the bag so that at impact the following occurs: • Hips turning to face
the target • Leading arm extended • Club head staying low through the ball and face of club connecting solidly with back of ball • Back of leading wrist firm
trailing wrist bent • Head position facing towards where the ball was with shoulders square • Weight shifted off
back foot • Trail knee and foot kicking inwards towards the target Do this several times before transferring the movement into striking the ball.
