VW commercial sales boom
VOLKSWAGEN COMMERCIAL VEHICLES DELIVERED A RECORD 121,800 vans and utes in the first three months of 2017.
The first quarter sales were an eight percent increase year-on-year over the same period of 2016.
The best-seller was the T-series mid-sized van range, with 50,600 sales, an 8.1 percent rise over last year.
Sales of the Caddy city van increased 15.7 percent, to a total of 42,400.
VW delivered 18,500 Amarok utes, a drop of 0.9 percent, and sales of the Crafter big van, which was on run-out, fell by 3.3 percent, to 10,500.
Though Crafter sales dropped, the new model’s mid-march launch saw sales leap 16.9 percent during that month.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ sales and marketing chief, Bram Schot, says demand for the new Crafter is high, adding that it is “being extremely well received.”
VW reports strong demand for the new Crafter in Europe. It’s about to go on sale here.
