VW com­mer­cial sales boom

VOLKSWAGEN COM­MER­CIAL VE­HI­CLES DE­LIV­ERED A RECORD 121,800 vans and utes in the first three months of 2017.

The first quar­ter sales were an eight per­cent in­crease year-on-year over the same pe­riod of 2016.

The best-seller was the T-se­ries mid-sized van range, with 50,600 sales, an 8.1 per­cent rise over last year.

Sales of the Caddy city van in­creased 15.7 per­cent, to a to­tal of 42,400.

VW de­liv­ered 18,500 Amarok utes, a drop of 0.9 per­cent, and sales of the Crafter big van, which was on run-out, fell by 3.3 per­cent, to 10,500.

Though Crafter sales dropped, the new model’s mid-march launch saw sales leap 16.9 per­cent dur­ing that month.

Volkswagen Com­mer­cial Ve­hi­cles’ sales and mar­ket­ing chief, Bram Schot, says demand for the new Crafter is high, adding that it is “be­ing ex­tremely well re­ceived.”
