Ram revises range for 2017 model year
RAM ROLLED OUT UPDATES TO THE 1500 Rebel and Ram Limited pick-up trucks in April.
The off-road oriented 1500 adds a seventh colour option, Delmonico Red, a deep red that’s available in monotone or two-tone with black lower panels.
Buyers can also order it with the Rebel Black (black wheels and front skid plate) appearance package.
Delmonico Red Rebels have black and gray interiors with black anodised bezels on the doors, centre console, instrument panel and gauge cluster trim rings.
The all-black heated seats have black Rebel embroidery highlighted by light slate grey accent stitching.
Ram 1500 Rebels have raised ride heights, 33-inch all-terrain tyres, Bilstein shock absorbers, skid plates, tow hooks and other off-road-ready features.
The trucks are available in three shortwheelbase Crew Cab configurations with a standard 4x4 transmission, a 228kw/365nm 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine and a Torqueflite 8 gearbox combo.
Optional is a 5.7-litre Hemi V8 with variable valve timing, fuel-saver technology and 295kw and 556Nm of torque. It’s mated to a Torqueflite eight-speed transmission and is available in rear-wheel drive and 4x4 versions.
On top-of-the-line Ram Limiteds, bodycolour R-A-M tailgate letters and side steps replace chrome equivalents for 2017.
Ram 1500, 2500 and 3500 Limited trim pickups can now be ordered with monochromatic R-A-M tailgate letters as an alternative to the standard bright chrome letters introduced last year. The body-colour tailgate letters and newly-introduced body-colour cab-length running boards are added-cost options.
Ram Limiteds have all-black, full-leather seating, real wood interior components and unique badges.
The Limited’s billet port grille breaks from Ram’s crosshair styling with bold RAM lettering, and it has a bolder tailgate design and all-new 20-inch forged multi-surface aluminium wheels.
Inside the cab, the deep console bin houses a cellphone and tablet holder, which can be concealed with a tambour sliding door made from Black Argento wood.
The Ram 1500 Limited has an active air suspension system with five settings: entry/ exit, aero mode, normal ride height, off-road 1 and off-road 2.
For 2017, Ram 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty Laramie, Longhorn and Limited models get a standard 6.4-litre HEMI petrol V8.
Heavy-duty Longhorn and Limited 4x4s also get standard Bilstein monotube shock absorbers.
