3D configurator helps buyers personalise utes
UTE ACCESSORIES SPECIALIST AND MANUFACTURER, BEAUT Utes, is embarking on a futuristic way of visualising and accessorising the full range of new utes sold in New Zealand. The Beaut Utes website-based system is unique in Australasia. Previewed on its stand at Fieldays in June via an Xbox and 55-inch television monitor, the 3D configurator was five years in the concept and eight months in the making.
Beaut Utes’ new website launches in August with a new area that will allow customers to choose their new ute and colour, and then specify and virtually fit a full range of accessories, including protection bars, liners, hard lids, canopies and roof racks.
Though a couple of manufacturers have similar 2D digital specifiers with limited functionality, Beaut Utes says it will be able to offer ute buyers a full 3D rendering of the finished ute which can be rotated infinitely, zoomed in and out, and pitched up and down.
The 3D configurator will also give customers the ability to view the ute through Virtual Reality goggles, allowing them to truly immerse themselves in their new ute.
Beaut Utes is an original equipment (OE) supplier to many manufacturers, and the configurator displays each brand-specific accessory (to avoid cross-branded products).
Beaut Utes says it understands that many buyers now research online before buying, and the Beaut Utes tool will make it easier for them to personalise a ute.
The personalised and specified finished ute can then be saved and sent to a local car dealer for final pricing and subsequent fitting of the chosen accessories.
Though the configurator is initially targeted at the end user, Beaut Utes hopes to partner with all manufacturers, to make the ute buying and accessory experience even easier.
The 3D ute configurator can be viewed and used at the new website, www.beaututes.co.nz.
