NZ’S SUV, Ute and Light Commercial magazine
WELCOME TO THE FIRST EDITION OF NEW Zealand LCV Magazine to go on sale through retail magazine outlets.
Going retail is an exciting development in the magazine’s history. It began as Cargo Magazine and was later re-launched as NZ Light Commercial Vehicle Magazine, and is published bi-monthly. Earlier this year, the title was shortened to LCV magazine.
LCV Magazine provides extensive coverage of the two strongest growth segments of the New Zealand vehicle market, utes and SUVS, two categories of vehicle that are displacing the traditional car and station wagon as family transport.
Modern SUVS – and, increasingly utes – provide much of the ease of operation, comfort and technological features of cars with the added advantage of driving positions that give a commanding view of the road and surrounding traffic.
And four-wheel drive versions of both types of vehicle give owners the ability to venture off-road for some real adventure motoring.
LCV also covers vans and light-duty trucks – the latter the sort that can be driven on a regular car licence – and we road test vehicles in all categories.
Our tests are fair, honest, authoritative and written without bias by motoring journalists with decades of experience.
Our editorial team is led by Editor, Mike Stock, a veteran of 50 years in journalism who wrote his first road test in 1971 – of the stylish Fiat 850 Coupe – for the Auckland Star’s weekly 8o’clock edition. Since then he has tested hundreds of vehicles.
He has worked in daily and weekly newspapers and radio news, and has written full-time about motorsport, cars and now light commercial vehicles since 1985.
Mike is backed up by Associate Editor, Dean Evans, who has more than 20 years’ experience in motoring journalism in his native Australia.
As well as working on the major Australian car magazines, Dean has published his own magazines and worked in automotive PR.
He’s also a highly-experienced and rapid tarmac rally driver and circuit racer.
For LCV, Dean writes road tests and feature stories, and carries out and writes our regular tow tests.
Dean moved here with his Kiwi wife, Arna, a couple of years back and Arna brings a young mother of two’s perspective to our ute and SUV road tests.
From the December-january edition, she will be joined in that role by mum of one, Olivia Beauchamp, who will give her take on the Land Rover Discovery and Volkswagen Amarok.
We think the young mum’s perspective is vital on vehicles that are going to be used as family transport.
As well as vehicle tests and advice, LCV Magazine brings readers the latest light commercial vehicle and SUV news, along with comment and feature stories.
We also provide exhaustive analysis of the light commercial vehicle market, with statistical research carried out by highly-experienced motor industry consultant Robin Yates.
As the SUV and ute markets continue to grow, our coverage will expand to match that growth, and our aim is to bring readers the most up-to-date, unbiased, independent and lively coverage available in New Zealand.
These are exciting times for the light commercial vehicle and SUV sectors and we want to bring that excitement to our readers with content that informs, entertains and gives them the tools on which to make informed buying decisions.
We hope you enjoy this first retail edition, and we look forward to LCV magazine becoming a must-read and a vital part of your lives.
