New Zealand Listener - - DIVERSIONS -

You are too strong to respond 3NT. The ideal solution is to play “inverted minors”, where a 2C response is strong and forcing and a 3C response would be relatively weak. If you do not play this method, you must invent a response. It is dangerous to bid 1H or 1S because partner may raise enthusiastically with four-card support. Best is 1D. If partner rebids 2D, showing a minimum, you can bid 3NT then. Awards: 1D or 2C (if played as inverted) – 10, 1S or 1H – 6, 3NT – 5, 3C – 2.
