RUGBY

The overlap between winter and summer sporting schedules continues for another week. The Blues’ new coaching set-up will be put to the sternest of tests first up on Saturday as the team host last year’s winners (and nine-time Super Rugby champions) the Crusaders at Eden Park ( Sky Sport 1, 7.00pm), then the Hurricanes take on the Warratahs in Sydney (Sky Sport 1, 9.40pm). The Highlander­s play their second match of the competitio­n against the Reds on Friday (Sky Sport 1, 7.00pm).

CRICKET

On Sunday, the Super Smash domestic T20 cricket competitio­n reaches its climax with the final match between the top qualifier and the winner of the eliminatio­n final ( Sky Sport 1, 4.00pm). After struggling against India, the White Ferns take on Australia in a one-day match ( Sky Sport 2, Friday, 3.15pm). The Black Caps’ World Cup warmup continues with the second ODI against Bangladesh at Hagley Oval ( Sky Sport 1, Saturday, 10.30am) and then the final of three games in Dunedin ( Sky Sport 1, Wednesday, 10.30am).

SURFING

Local surfing gets some airtime with coverage of the second day of the 2019 New Zealand Surf Open live from Papamoa beach ( Sky Sport Pop-Up 2, Sunday, 10.00am).

FOOTBALL

There’s also plenty of Euro football this week. Liverpool tackle Bayern Munich ( Sky Sport 2, Wednesday, 8.55am) and Barcelona play Lyon ( Sky Sport 3, Wednesday, 8.55am). On Friday, Arsenal play Bate Borisov ( Sky Sport 4, 6.50am) and Chelsea take on Malmö (Sky Sport 4, 8.55am).
