Jimmy is an underground charger who has built himself a reputation over the last 20 years as one of the best tube riders on our shores. There are many stories of sessions throughout the country where crew have pulled up to heavy reef breaks at first light to find Jimmy out there solo in the dark taking on eight foot pits. When you push the limits as far as Jimmy does you often find yourself in the zone of 50/50 calls. By being super deep and taking off late you could be rewarded with the barrel of the day, but if you play it safe and take no risk out on the shoulder your chances are near to nil. They say for every risk there is an equal or better reward. For Jimmy on this wave that was not the case this time. However after paddling back out and positioning himself in a similar fashion the very next wave, he was tubed off his head, we’ve saved that sequence for another time, and are sure it won’t be the last pit Jimmy slots into.
