Maz Quinn would have to be hands down the most barrelled man in NZ. Not only can he ride the tube damn well when they do present themselves, but he makes it his number one priority to track and chase these days. The 2013 winter has been one to remember for NZ surfers and if you were prepared to put in the k’s as Maz did then there were a shit load of tubes on offer. This wave pictured here at a Bay Of Plenty spot that loves to gift barrels is the best wave Maz has caught here and that’s a quote straight from the horse’s mouth. The day before this Maz rode around 40 tubes up the Coro and after this session pictured where he was spat out of around 20, he went back up the Coro for the arvo and slotted into a quick 10. He then drove through the night to a slabbing reef down near his home town and navigated a heap of tunnels, before heading down to the bottom of the South Island. This process was repeated over and over for the next five weeks and still hasn’t stopped. Now that’s some tube time to make any surfer jealous!
