Parting Ways!

Maz Quinn who you would have seen gracing the cover of this mag many times since his first cover on issue 21 has recently parted ways with his long time sponsor of 22 years Quiksilver. Maz was picked up as a young 15 year old grommy by the NZ pioneer of Quiksilver Rannoch Goodwin, who on his first look at Maz's surfing knew he had the X-factor and secured his signature. Over the next 20 plus year Maz was instrumental in growing the brand, not only here but internationally as he became a household name becoming the first kiwi surfer to qualify for the World Tour. "After 22 years Quiksilver has decided to finish our relationship, while I'm disappointed and to be honest a little disillusioned. In saying this though I want to thank Quiksilver for supporting me since I was 15. They have helped a kids dream become a reality, which was to become a professional surfer. A dream I had when I was 12 years old. Without their backing I wouldn't have achieved everything I have to this date. So thank you Quiksilver for the opportunity it's been a great ride with too many people to thank, but a big thanks to Rannoch Goodwin for seeing potential in a quiet 15 year old and giving me a chance. As they say, as a chapter closes another one opens." - Maz Quinn.
